BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE
-
Louise is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker with over 26 years of experience as a mental health provider. She did not learn about trauma recovery in a book and knows firsthand the importance of compassionate, non-judgmental care where client self-determination is honored and upheld.
-
Louise has been through a few life transitions of her own, which informs her approach with those who are adjusting to "new a normal" in their lives; whether due to trauma, grief, military lifestyle, parenting, separation/divorce, or aging.
-
EMDR, an accelerated trauma processing modality, has been a part of her practice for over 20 years. Louise is well-versed in the treatment of an array of conditions and utilizes a variety of different treatment modalities to best meet the needs of those she serves.
-
Louise grew up in a military lifestyle and has worked under a Department of Defense contract as a Military Family Life Consultant.
-
Louise is trained in Couple's Counseling, a short-term approach that involves both partners in decision-making about marital relationships and is also a Level II Gottman Trained Couple's Therapist.
-
Louise has additional training in Emotionally Focused Couple's therapy.
-
Louise is of the belief that one would not wait for a leaky pipe to flood the basement before giving it attention and repair, and sees mental health and relationship care in the same way.
